The body is always trying to heal itself. We aim to promote this healing process by providing you with the tools and knowledge you need. When you understand your body better and use it more efficiently, you can enjoy its full potential.
Physiotherapy can treat abnormalities with function and movement and help with a wide range of joint and musculoskeletal problems, including back and neck pain, ligament and muscle tears, cartilage injuries, arthritis, joint pain or stiffness and problems following a fracture or operation. Physiotherapists use a wide range of techniques such as mobilisations, massage, electrotherapy, taping, neural dynamics, exercise therapy, bio mechanics and re-education.
Reflexology is a therapy involving massage to the feet or hands, which has been practiced since Egyptian times. It helps to restore and maintain the body’s natural homeostasis, alleviating energy imbalances associated with injury and disease. It has been known to help with a variety of conditions, including infertility, IBS, headaches, PMT, depression, diabetes, arthritis, chronic pain, fatigue, insomnia and recurring illnesses.
My name is Rebecca Lake, I qualified as a chartered physiotherapist in 1997 at the Bath School of Physiotherapy. After working at Ipswich Hospital for 6 years where I was a senior musculoskeletal physiotherapist I had a career break in which I had my 4 children.
In 2008 I was registered Blind and I had to explore new ways of working. I passed a BTEC at The Collette School of Reflexology and in 2010 set up The Therapy Room combining Physiotherapy, Massage & Reflexology. I always work in a very holistic hands on way looking at how ones biography ( the ergonomics. physical & emotional patterns, injuries & traumas) have become their biology.
The body is made up of a series of many joints and like cogs in a chain if some cogs have become stiff or uninvolved whilst others have been overdoing things this can have far reaching effects on all the bodies systems . Using a variety of manual and re educational techniques I work with clients to re sculpt the way their bodies and brains interact to modify movement patterns that they may have unwittingly become locked into.
The body is always working to balance itself to reach its maximum healing possibility. My role is too help you understand the quickest and easiest path you can take to restore function and alleviate pain.
In my life I have had the opportunity to experience first hand the role of the therapist, patient and carer. These experiences have taught me that empathy, compassion and a listening ear are equally as important as clinically evidenced medical intervention.
I am always free for a 10 minute no obligation chat to see if the Therapy Room sounds right for you. Ring me on 07760434749.
